Y.Fehmi Senok was born in France in 1966. After completing his primary and secondary education in Istanbul, he graduated from the Faculty of Business Management of the University of Anatolia. He later continued his studies in England on polymer chemistry.
His introduction to the underwater world was during his high school years when he went fishing with a spear. He became a scuba diver in 1984. He started to continue his practice of photography under the water in 1989.
Over the years he spent great efforts to promote both the underwater and underwater photography. He organized many slide shows and wrote more than 100 articles to aid the development of his hobby in Turkey. He has been of great contribution to the present number of underwater photographers, which were only a few in the year 1980.
He was the editor of Deniz Magazine from 1996-97 and of Mavi Dunya between 1997-98, which helped him reach wider audiences. His techniques and success in national underwater photography competitions greatly contributed to the creation of experimental photography as a field of interest. He was a pioneer in the subject of copyrights of underwater photographers.
He has won over 30 awards from several national underwater photography competitions and has participated in 10 joint exhibitions.
In 2001 his book entitled "Diving Guide of Turkey", was published in Turkish and English and became a landmark in Turkish diving tourism. In 2002 he was awarded by the General Directorate of the Youth and Sports Ministry and also by the President of the Underwater Federation for his contribution to Turkish underwater tourism.
In 2003 he wrote with Baki Yokes "First Steps into Underwater".
In 2004 he wrote with David St. Charles " Diving Guide of Northern Cyprus"
His photographs have been published in magazines such as Skylife, Voyager, Gezi Traveller-National Geographic, Atlas, Focus, Deniz Magazine, Sea and Fishing Magazine and similar travel, nature and environmental magazines and newspapers. Fehmi Senok is a member of SCSPF (Turkish Underwater Sports Federation), SAD (Underwater Research Association) and IFSAK (Istanbul Photography and Cinema Amateurs Association).
Fehmi Senok who is a member of the Executive Board at Izosan Derin Marine Paints continues to develop new projects for the promotion of oceans on an international levels.
